10 things that should live in your medicine cabinet

I believe in being prepared. For what? For whatever may come; especially in the home. Having kids makes you infinitesimally more cautious of everything. Preparedness for those stomach viruses, allergies, cuts and scrapes, colds and fevers, etc., needs to come natural.

There are at least 10 things that I feel everyone should keep in their medicine cabinet (or anywhere you want), especially if you’re mom.

Kids are never too small or too big to have accidents at home or while they play, so why not be prepared? And we as adults, are not exempt from accidents and often end up catching whatever germs our kids bring home.

10 Things for Your Medicine Cabinet

These are the things that I can’t go without in my home. To some of you, this list of items may sound redundant for you may already keep these readily available. But to those of you who don’t, I think this list will prove very helpful. Here they are in no particular order:

  • Isopropyl Rubbing Alcohol
  • Hydrogen Peroxide
  • Bacitracin Ointment
  • Hydrocortisone Ointment
  • Vicks VapoRub
  • Pepto Bismol or Imodium AD
  • A Good Probiotic (Culturelle has a great one for kids)
  • Bandaids (assorted sizes) I prefer the flexible fabric kind
  • Bengay or any other rub for pain (Icy Hot if you can handle it)
  • Pain killer/fever reducer (Motrin or Advil Liquid for children/Aleve, Tylenol, Advil for adults)

I guarantee you that if you have these items in your home you will be prepared for just about any small emergency that may come your way.

If you have a “must-have” in your home, feel free to add it to this list via the comments. I’m curious to know what some of you keep in your home as your must-haves.
